Sye is Prime Video’s proprietary, UDP-based live streaming technology, purpose-built for delivering high-quality, frame-synchronized live video at low-latency. Sye vision is to ensure that every customer streaming a live event on Prime Video has the best possible viewing experience for their device platform and network conditions. Using Sye, Prime Video (PV) currently achieves fixed glass-to-glass latency and best class quality. Sye contributes to Prime Video’s entertainment hub strategy by offering customers and 3P channel partners a premium live-streaming experience only available through Prime Video.
Key job responsibilities
• Build and maintain the systems responsible for world-wide Prime Video streaming for customers.
• Be the interface between the product owners and the development team, thoroughly understanding the product, helping define user stories, and driving the evaluation of appropriate technical solutions to meet the business requirements.
• Lead the technical team of engineers to deliver on your goals.
• Own engagement with the partners, work to decompose requirements into technical execution plans with multiple development teams, track progress towards goals, and report status to product, business development, and technical leadership.
• Help make the right feature trade-offs to ship software without compromising customer experience and business relevance.
• Engage with many other teams in the company, evangelizing the team and your project, building relationships and helping identify existing components and technologies that can be leveraged to deliver on our goals.
• Represent the technical team to senior leadership across the company.
A day in the life
• You will be working with your team of talented engineers to solve complex problems to benefit Prime Video Customers. Helping to design and implement solutions for low latency streaming that will run on record breaking live events globally.
• You will be part of the team's ceremonies, such as stand up, sprint planning, retro and demo. They will facilitate operational reviews and team meetings and 1 to 1 sessions.
• You will be an active participant in the Sye organisation through attending review meetings, goal reviews, project update meetings and customer sessions.
About the team
Our team manages the end to end low latency streaming offering for prime video. We are located across London, Seattle, and Stockholm Sweden.
We have a diverse range of people and skills in our org, which gives us all new ways to learn how to solve difficult, complex and ambiguous problems.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS- 3+ years of engineering team management experience
- 7+ years of working directly within engineering teams experience
- 3+ years of designing or architecting (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
- 8+ years of leading the definition and development of multi tier web services experience
- Knowledge of engineering practices and patterns for the full software/hardware/networks development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, certification, and livesite operations
- Experience partnering with product or program management teams
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS- Experience in communicating with users, other technical teams, and senior leadership to collect requirements, describe software product features, technical designs, and product strategy
- Experience in recruiting, hiring, mentoring/coaching and managing teams of Software Engineers to improve their skills, and make them more effective, product software engineers

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $166,400/year in our lowest geographic market up to $287,700/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
