Position Description
We are seeking a School Safety Officer committed to protecting educational environments. This role combines the enforcement of security protocols with building positive relationships within the school community.

Paid Training

  • Training Academy: 5.5 weeks in April 2025 at the  Sheriff's Training Facility  (GADSEN).
  • Includes: Tactical security training, emergency management instruction, and documentation practices.

Experience and Skills

  • 3 years of combined experience in:
  • Military service.
  • Law enforcement.
  • Private/correctional security.
  • Emergency response (paramedics, firefighters, etc.).

Key Responsibilities

  • Monitor and enforce security protocols in school facilities.
  • Respond to emergencies (critical incidents, first aid, etc.) promptly and professionally.
  • Document incidents and maintain detailed records.

Qualifications



 

Education Requirements

  • Minimum: High School Diploma or GED.
  • Preferred: Training in public safety, law, military, or emergency response fields.
  • Technical Skills:
  • Advanced proficiency in firearms and tactical equipment.
  • Intermediate knowledge of emergency protocols (e.g., ALICE, CPR).
  • Proficiency in report-writing and documentation software.

Required Licenses and Certifications

  • Valid Class D Driver’s License.
  • Security License G.
  • Concealed Carry Weapon (CCW) Permit.
  • Eligibility to work in the U.S.

Additional Requirements

  • Pass screenings for:
  • Drug use (Section 112.0455).
  • Psychological evaluation (Chapter 490,  Department of Law Enforcement ).
  • Criminal background.
  • Provide personal equipment:
  • Firearm.
  • Duty belt with Level 3 retention holster.
  • 5 magazines.
  • Minimum age: 21 years.
  • On-site work availability.
