Description Job Title: Azure Data Engineer Clearance Required: Public Trust - Federal Client requires US Citizenship Work Location: Remote, Arlington, VA Alpha Omega is seeking a qualified Azure Data Engineer for a remote position on our Federal programs in Arlington, Virginia. Candidates will build secure, scalable, and efficient data pipelines using Azure Data Factory, Data Lake, SQL Server. This role supports the design and operationalization of mission-critical ELT workflows that integrate regulatory, financial, and operational datasets. We are seeking a highly skilled Azure Data Engineer with strong experience in Azure Data Factory (ADF) and ELT/ETL pipeline development. This individual will design and implement modern, event-driven data workflows leveraging Azure-native services including Data Factory, Data Lake, and SQL Server. You will work closely with architects, backend/API developers, DevSecOps, and security stakeholders to deliver trusted, compliant, and scalable data integration solutions. Key Responsibilities: Design and implement data ingestion and transformation pipelines using Azure Data Factory, including mapping data flows, triggers, and parameterized pipelines. Integrate with Azure Data Lake Storage, SQL Server, Synapse Analytics and external APIs to support business logic and analytics workflows. Develop event-driven data pipelines triggered by Azure Event Grid or Azure Queue Storage, orchestrated through Function Apps or ADF schedules. Support DevSecOps practices by integrating pipelines into GitHub CI/CD workflows and managing infrastructure as code via Terraform or ARM templates. Ensure data quality, lineage, and traceability through thorough documentation and metadata management. Collaborate with business analysts, backend developers, and the solutions architect to define technical specifications and support evolving business needs. Monitor pipeline performance, handle failures with robust retry strategies, and participate in incident resolution. Prepare for and contribute to governance reviews, documentation for ATO readiness, and O&M transition plans. Required Qualifications: Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field. Experience/Skills: Federal Client requires US Citizenship. 5+ years of experience in data engineering with at least 2+ years in Azure Data Factory and Azure-native data services. Expertise in ELT/ETL development, data orchestration, and cloud data warehouse solutions (e.g., Synapse, SQL DB). Proficiency in SQL, and working knowledge of Data Lake Gen2 and Synapse pipelines. Experience working in event-driven architectures using triggers like Event Grid and/or blob-based workflows. Strong troubleshooting, documentation, and performance optimization skills. Excellent communication and teamwork in Agile delivery environments. Salary and Benefit Information: The likely salary range for this position is $100,431 - $148,000. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. There are multiple factors that are considered in determining final pay for a position, including, but not limited to, relevant work experience, skills, certifications and competencies that align to the specified role, education and certifications as well as contract provisions regarding labor categories that are specific to the position and could fall outside of this range.
